Molemate Mole Assessment
Molemate™ is a non invasive, rapid and painless melanoma screening device that has been specifically designed with and for general practitioners and skin specialists. By assisting and accelerating the diagnostic process, Molemate™ enables the medical professional to quickly scan and make a decision to refer a patient, excise a lesion or immediately assure them that their lesion is not suspicious.
Molemate™ consists of a hand held scanner and software that uses sciascopy the skin imaging system that scans and visualises haemoglobin, melanin, dermal melanin and collagen and is able to determine whether melanin is in the top layer of the skin or whether it has moved down to the lower papillary dermis (dermal layer).
How is the treatment carried out?
The Molemate™ scanner is held gently upon the lesion concerned and scans are then performed by your consultant. This is a pain free procedure that takes little time.
The results of this skin imaging will be given to you at the time of the scan and decisions can then be made regarding the outcome of this process.
